What a crazy first month back!
I've had 5 primaries deliver so far- my three march clients AND two of my aprils. I've also attended TEN, count em', TEN, backup deliveries! This is great though- when I do eventually receive a paycheck, i'll be able to throw the money in all necessary directions (savings, RRSP, RESP, wedding, OSAP, parental debt, car payments and insurance, mortgage). Its funny... if i'm given just a little bit of responsibility, i'm totally unproductive; if responsibility is piled on, everything gets done!
I've also dealt with all different case scenarios with clients this month... cleft lip & palate, methadone addiction and extreme anxiety, to name a few. Unfortunately, we also had a poor outcome with one of our babies... I wish those parents nothing but healing.
It's been a lot easier than I expected being back at work- other than the extreme mommy guilt. I feel like my poor milo sees the back of me running out the door more than me sitting down to spend time with him. He ate his first "food" the other day- baby rice cereal!!

Poor Chewy had to stay at home :(

"Paging Dr. Faggot"

Day two of clinic and my partner says Milo is already cranky when i'm gone. Poor goo-goo.

Other than that, work is good... easy to fall back into a clinic routine... not so easy to get paged out in the middle of the night!
I got my first page today from a client, since i've been back on call... I can tell i've been off for awhile when my reaction is to jump a mile high upon hearing it buzz- after being a student midwife for 5 years, it'll take a least a couple of months to rid myself of that twitch.

I love seeing my clients again- I love how they all waited for me! The bellies are bigger, the babies are easier to palpate and all the pregnancies have been going smoothly. Lovelovelove my job <3

And lovelovelove my milo monster

First post.
My baby is three months old and today I begin work again as a registered midwife.
I'm used to juggling some things- you can't be a midwife without expecting to multitask- but i've never been faced with choosing between such imperative priorities. I guess i'll see how many balls I can keep in the air, and for how long.

Milo monster says muahhh
